If I own a travel agent company. I would choose new media tools like blogs, mobile communications, sharing sites, real simple syndication feeds, social network sites, and video sharing sites that are most suited for my company. Blog is a website published on the internet that allows information and ideas to be shared via regular entries and allow content which feature text, images, links to be shared and discussed. Blogs range from informal online journals to official organizational or news sources. By using blogs, people who don't know anything about travelling can access the travel blog company and travelers may be looking for new destination by access that blog. Next, mobile communication suit for travel agency company because of wireless devices to send, receive and view information. Users like travelers can access websites and download application by travel agent company to receive specific details and can use text messaging to share information that includes text, video, audio and photos. Mobile communications does support large number of concurrent call, sustain geographically dispersed travel agent company, cost effective, easy to manage, can increase customer satisfaction. Sharing sites is photo sharing sites enable users to upload, store, edit and share photos. Users also can include comments and ask question to travel agent company. The sharing sites can be straightforward to help travelers simplify the travel process. Next, Real Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds allow users to receive content from many websites including breaking news, blog posts and podcast. Travelers also can subscribe to feeds and receive updates through email or an RSS reader. This tools reverses the process of searching for new content and instead the new content is delivered to the reader. Travel agent company use RSS feeds to keep customers aware of the latest developments to deliver insider recommendations to interested readers. Social network sites enable travel agent company to share information with online by sending messages, uploading photos and videos, groups and posting events to customer. Travel agent company should have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and TripAdvisor to communicate with potential customers, increase brand awareness and boost sales. Lastly, travel agent company can use video sharing sites to upload and share online videos so company and customers can exchange comments and messages. Popular sharing sites for travel agent company is Youtube and Vimeo.
TUTORIAL 4 (LECTURE 4)
Q1) Can you define the main concept of Internet of Things (IoT)?
Main concept of Internet of Things (IoT) is refers to a vision of the future where everything- a people devices, objects and even aspects of our natural environment are all connected. These devices range from sensors in everyday objects such as cars, street lighting and home heating systems to industrial and manufacturing processes. These sensors will make "dumb" objects "smart". Connectivity will enable them to transmit data to other machines and computer systems, automating many processes and also gathering vast quantities of new types of data. That data can then be analyses and used by businesses to make smarter decisions which they act upon our mobile devices, smartphones, and tablets will also generate data to feed into this vast, IoT along with new trend such as wearable technologies. IoT is a system of interrelated computing devices mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers. The interconnection via the Internet of computing devices embedded in everyday objects, enabling them to send and receive data. IoT also is ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human/ computer-to-computer interaction and can be assigned an IP address and is able to transfer data over a network. Basic concepts of the IoT consists of common devices or objects enhanced by technologies like sensors, actuators wireless communication and decision making abilities. Those devices are able to sense their surrounding and draw conclusions depending on observed phenomena. IoT also depending on the available information, smart objects can induce actions such as triggering of an alarm when certain environmental conditions are met. There are six key concepts and skills needed for IoT's users such as hardware, networking, applications design and development, security, business intelligence and data analytics and machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI).
TUTORIAL 5 (LECTURE 5)
Q1) You are claiming that the IoT does not involve/ should not cause human interaction – how is that possible? There are several IoT products, including health monitors, fitness monitors, elderly care, etc., which involve a large amount of human interaction. Can you give some examples to show that IoT does not involve human interaction?
IoT is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals and people that are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. IoT should not cause human interaction. Some examples to show that does not involve human interaction are machine-to-machine communication refers to connecting a device to the cloud, managing it and collecting data. Next, after collecting data, the data is transfer to analyze the data and take an action. Some example to show that IoT does not involve human interaction is sensor. Smartphone have sensors like motion sensors that are useful for monitoring device movement, and environmental sensors that are used to detect temperature, humidity and heat losses. Another example to show that IoT does not involve human interaction is antenna that analysis business and develop customer relationship management. Last example of IoT devices that does not involve human interaction is microcontroller that are added to any physical object and contain more processors with memory and programmable in single integrated circuit to back end a system
TUTORIAL 6 (LECTURE 6)
Q1) Where do you see the IoT and its technologies creating the most impact?
I see the IoT is used throughout industry product lifecycles with notable success in logistics and fleet management by enabling cost effective GPS tracking and automated loading/ unloading. It has had a major impact on the operational and support side of industry. IoT technology has trickled out of the production line and into real time operational support as sensors record telemetry data about the operation of their engines while in flight to analyse data and detect any issues within an individual engine so it can be repaired in time safely. In the oil and gas industry IoT sensors have transformed efficiencies around the complex process of natural resource extraction by monitoring the health and efficiency of hard to access equipment installations in remote areas with limited connectivity. Other more discrete IoT devices such as drones are also being used very effectively for monitoring dangerous and hard to reach equipment and safeguard personnel. Drones are essentially just flying IoT cameras. IoT in the workplace like home are outsmarting the office when it comes to the adoption of connected technology such is the consumer-centric nature of the IoT narrative. More IoT enabled era in the workplace that will see employees better connect to each other and their environment for enhanced collaboration and productivity. Industry commentators also already mooting robotic colleagues and sending documents via smart watch. Also there are sensors that optimise office lighting and temperature for saving energy cost. There are also have motion sensors that can detect room occupancy. Personal touch into the office now underpinning the consumer experience is starting to filter into working lives to create a workspace that knows the user and anticipate their routine and preference. Biometric or radio signal based sensor doors that know when someone have arrived and unlocked automatically rendering the swipe card or having location and scheduled tracked and shared so colleagues are updated if someone are delayed for a meeting. IoT become truly transformative in the working environment it demands a cultural shift. Data needs to be integrated and analysed fast for actionable insight so that the right commands.
